Glasses for High Prescriptions

With a strong prescription, the frame you choose changes how thick and heavy your lenses turn out. A minus lens is thinnest in the middle and thicker towards the edge, so a smaller lens leaves less of that thick edge. Plus lenses work the other way round, and a smaller lens keeps their centre thinner. Every frame here has a lens width of 52 mm or less.

All of them are full-rim acetate or TR90. The rim wraps around the lens and hides much of the edge, which a rimless or thin metal frame would leave on show. Round and pantos shapes help too, because they have no far corners where a minus lens gets thickest.

High-index lenses bend light more strongly, so a 1.67 or 1.74 lens needs less material for the same prescription. You can choose 1.61, 1.67 or 1.74 when you order. If you are unsure which suits your numbers, our guide to choosing a lens index explains it.
