In the heart of Lensdy's brand story lies a tale of necessity, discovery, and the desire to help others experience the world with clarity. It began with one of our founders, an individual suffering from severe myopia. As a result of her condition, she was compelled to wear thick lenses, restricting her ability to freely choose her preferred eyeglass frames.
The myopia market was limited; the thinnest lens available was a 1.67 refractive index lens. While thinner than most, it still proved cumbersome for high myopes. Further compounding the problem was the cost - a staggering 200 euros for a pair of these lenses. Undoubtedly, this was a barrier for many people, and our founder felt compelled to find a better solution.
The turning point came during a trip to China, where our founder discovered a thinner lens with a refractive index of 1.74, significantly superior to the existing 1.67 index lens available in the market. These thinner lenses not only provided a more comfortable experience but were also priced at less than a third of the cost in Europe. Meanwhile, the frames are even more extensive and inexpensive.
It was a revelation that sparked a mission. She and her friend were struck by an idea - what if they could make this superior optical experience available to more people? What if high-quality, thinner lenses didn't have to be a luxury but a standard? They dreamed of bringing these high-quality lenses to more people, aspiring to provide them with a better visual experience.
